On June 15th , APEM will present the fifth Christopher-J.-Reed Prize to Me Claude Brunet The Christopher-J.-Reed Award has been presented annually to a person who is committed to his professional community, who is highly respectful of creators and copyright, and whose contribution to the exercise and recognition of Profession of musical publisher is exceptional. This award was created in homage to Christopher J. Reed, musical editor and founder of Intermède Music, who died in August 2012. For the year 2017, it is Me Claude Brunet who will be honored for his entire career. Me Brunet first practiced his profession as counsel to SOCAN. Portrait of Maxime Jacquet, composer

The composer Maxime Jacquet released in 2016 the album Story of a Life – Cinematic Orchestral and Piano Scores with Intermède Music. Interested in different musical genres such as Jazz, Rock, Metal, Industrial and Classical, Maxime Jacquet has a particular interest in orchestral music and music for video games. After completing classical piano studies at the Conservatory in France, Maxime headed towards composition for film by getting a Masters in Music for Applied Visual Arts (MAAAV) at the University of Lyon. He then studied at the University of Montreal in symphonic orchestration and interactive music for video games. Christopher J. Reed award 2016

This year, Carol Ryan, a founding-member of the APEM, will be honored for her career and commitment in the music field. Active in the industry for many years, she still manages the copyright office for Cirque du Soleil that she had developed. Since 2013 the Christopher J. Reed award, in honour of the founder of Intermède Music who passed away in 2012, honors a person every year of the professional community. The recipient must have shown a great respect for creators and copyright, and made an outstanding contribution to the recognition of the music publishing business, as did Christopher J. Reed. The awarding of the 2016 prize will take place on June 16 in Montreal at the Maison du Festival Rio Tinto Alcan.
